Hey, kids – SAVAGE #1 is out this Wednesday (unless you’re reading this after this Wednesday).

Along with the standard LaRosa/Reber cover, there are a few super keen variants available. If for some reason your shop has run out, a second printing will be out on 12/14.

I can’t say I’ve had many books reviewed poorly, but I’ve never had a book reviewed as glowingly as this one. Here’s what critics have been saying:

“Savage #1 is so well written you’ll find the pages without dinosaurs just as intriguing. This is efficient storytelling that’ll make you care and want more. What’s more savage, the boy in the opening pages fighting dinosaurs, or the excellent storytelling?” (10 out of 10)Adventures in Poor Taste

“While Valiant’s ongoing legacy character efforts have continued to please fans of sci-fi action/adventure, it’s often the new or less-recognizable properties like Savage that tend to surprise readers and attract new eyes to the publisher. Based on Paste’s interview with Moore and the smart dual art team, Savage seems poised to be Valiant’s next great launch.” – Paste Magazine

“Savage #1 delivers on every level with a compelling story and world-class artistic team. If you read only one book this week, you owe it to yourself to make it a Savage one!” (5 out of 5 stars)All-Comic.com

“As a brand-new character to the Valiant Universe, this story feels just organic enough, and then the fantastic touches elevate it to a modern epic. Wishing them much success with this book that they might find a way into the ongoing series it deserves.” – The Pullbox

“By melding human drama with prehistoric action, Savage #1 stands tall as another winning debut from Valiant Entertainment.” (9 out of 10)Newsarama’s Best Shots

“Writer B. Clay Moore (Hawaiian Dick) has an awesome comic book here, with artists Lewis LaRosa (X-Force), Clayton Henry (Alpha Flight) and colorist Brian Reber (X-Men Legacy) doing a phenomenal job bringing Savage #1 to life and creating detail this issue, equal amounts realistic and grotesque.” – godhatesgeeks.com

“I had high expectations for the first issue of Savage, and I can honestly say that the first issue smashed them with an opening to the story that will pull you in and beat you over the head with a bone club. Based on the first issue, I’d say Valiant have another hit on their hands; if you’re even remotely interested in the series pick the first up if you have a chance – you’ll not regret it.” (9.5 out of 10) – Graphic Policy

“Savage actually stands on its own merits.  I am absolutely enthused by the possibilities that Savage presents us.  The only thing that worries me is that this is a 4-issue miniseries, but knowing how tight Valiant likes to keep their universe, I’ve no doubt (depending on the outcome of the series that is) that Savage will make its mark on the greater Valiant universe.” (5 out of 5)Outright Geekery

“I’m excited to hear more from B. Clay Moore, to learn more about SAVAGE, his inclusion and role in the Valiant Universe, and cannot wait to see what else the artistic tandem of Henry, LaRosa, and Reber produce. This series shows signs of continuously getting better as more is revealed!” (4.5 out of 5 stars)PopcultHQ

“…judging from the quality of the writing and the visuals in the first issue, the creative team behind SAVAGE has a lot to offer. If you’re a fan of dinosaurs or just a sucker for great art, SAVAGE #1 will sink its teeth into you and leave you wanting seconds.” – (4.5 out of 5 stars) – Comicsverse
